Putin signed a decree according to which, from December 1, 2024, the regular number of the Russian Armed Forces will increase to 2,389,130 people, including 1.5 million military personnel.

The document was published on the portal of legal acts.

The Russian government was instructed to provide for the allocation of budgetary appropriations from the budget to the Ministry of Defence, necessary for the implementation of the decree.

The last time the size of the Russian army increased was at the end of 2023 – to 2,209,130 people, including 1.32 million troops.
