Explosions In Russian Volgograd Region: Marinovka Air Base Is On Fire

There were frontline reconnaissance aircraft at the air base.

On the night of August 22, drones attacked the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation. This was reported by residents of the city of Kalach-na-Donu, writes ASTRA.

Russian media noted that the Marinovka air base is located 20 kilometers from the city.

Later, journalists, citing the words of local residents, said that a fire started at the airfield in the village of Oktyabrsky.

According to journalists, the air base is home to Su-24MR frontline reconnaissance aircraft of the 2nd Separate Reconnaissance Aviation Squadron (military base #77978) of the 4th Air Force and Air Defence Command, formed on January 1, 2014 from the aviation squadron of the 6970th air base, part of the 7th Air Defence Brigade.

It should be noted that there are no official comments from the regional authorities or the Russian Defence Ministry yet.

Earlier, GUR (Ukrainian Defence Intelligence) head Kyrylo Budanov said that Ukrainian drones attacked the Russian Radio Intelligence Center near Moscow.
