Military Satellite Communication Center Deputy Head's Car Blows Up In Moscow

A high-ranking military officer was seriously injured.

On the morning of July 24, a powerful explosion sounded near one of the residential areas: a car exploded. The owner of the car was hospitalized with a traumatic amputation of the legs, his companion had serious facial injuries.

Later it became known that as a result of the explosion, 49-year-old Andrey Torgashov, Deputy Head of the Satellite Communication Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (PDRC 89), was injured. An explosive device was allegedly found at the site, reports obozrevatel.com.

The explosion sounded in the morning near the Molzhaninovo housing: a Toyota Land Cruiser exploded in the parking lot, a man and a woman were inside.

The injured man was 49-year-old Andrey Torgashov – he lost his limbs. His companion has serious facial wounds. Both were taken to hospital.

The Russian edition of ASTRA found out that he was injured, the car belongs to the military, Andrey Torgashov, the Deputy Head of the PDRC of the military base #33790 located in the suburbs. Military base #33790 is the 89th Satellite Communication Center of the Russian Armed Forces.

The Moscow police said that the cause of the explosion was an explosive device planted by unknown persons under the car.

The explosion also injured five other cars and shattered windows in an apartment building.
